Cedar creek cabin is a cabin walking distance to the cute town of Marshall, NC. The cabin is fully furnished with all the amenities for a worry-free, comfortable, vacation. Twenty minutes from Asheville, NC, it is an easy day trip to this eclectic, diverse town and the Biltmore Estate. If relaxation is what you want, indulge in the hot tub nestled in the trees, sit by the fireplace, or curl up on the front porch while listening to the sound of the French Broad River. The cabin has easy access to outdoor adventures. Tubing, kayaking, hiking, mountain biking, road biking, fishing, Hot Springs mineral tubs, and white water rafting are minutes away. Coffee shops, galleries and restaurants in the quaint, artsy, mountain town of Marshall, are an easy walk from the cabin. The cabin is not fancy or splashy--but is super-cozy. The living areas are small and sweet. The third bedroom is connected to the second bedroom by an open doorway (although you cannot see one room from the other). It is perfect for children or very close families. Please be advised that the cabin is in the woods! We try to keep it as critter-free as possible, but occasionally bugs get in! Please note: THE CABIN DOES NOT HAVE CENTRAL AIR CONDITIONING. There are window units in each of the bedrooms. It does get hot in the mountains sometimes. This is a lovely, cozy, tasteful home on our 50 acre property in rural Madison County, NC. Adjacent to a section of Pisgah National Forest and minutes from the scenic French Broad River, we are 30 miles to the North of Asheville between the towns of Marshall and Hot Springs. This is a great spot to gather family and friends for a private weekend and a good home base for exploring other attractions in Western North North Carolina and Eastern Tennessee, including hiking, rafting, fishing and horseback riding. There are two streams, walking trails and a screened picnic shelter on our property, and walks on the Appalachian Trail are only about a half hour away. The house has three levels. A master bedroom with private bath and queen bed is on the upper floor adjacent to large open loft with a futon and writing tables. The main floor includes two bedrooms with full size beds and a full bath along with kitchen, dining space and sitting area. A large sun room extends the length of the house on the first floor, with rocking chairs, a futon and writing desks. There is also a large covered front porch with rockers and a porch swing. The downstairs includes a cozy den with wood stove, rockers and a futon; one bedroom with a full sized bed; a second bedroom with two twin beds; a full bath and a large game room. The downstairs patio has nice views and a Weber gas grill. As an "extra" there is a charming little bunk house about fifty feet from the house, with a double bed, sitting area and writing desk that is appealing except in the coldest winter months. There is a house phone with unlimited domestic calling. For internet, we have the best service locally available via a US Cellular. We also provide AppleTV; guests use their own accounts for premium content. Our setting is rural, about a mile down a state-maintained gravel road that is traveled everyday by the local school bus. Historic downtown Asheville is 30 miles and 45 minutes away. The towns of Weaverville, Marshall and Hot Springs all have local charm and attractions and are 20 - 30 minutes away. There is an excellent Ingles supermarket in Marshall on the way into the cabin from Asheville. The kitchen is fully equipped, and all linens and towels are provided.

The cabin is minutes to the Hot Springs Resort, the center of town, the Appalachian trial, route 209 "the Rattler" (motorcycle road), French broad river, Max Patch, Laurel Creek, Lovers Leap and various rafting/tubing/zip-lining adventures. It's is nestled away on the edge of town (walking distance into the heart of hot springs) but also private enough to feel secluded in the mountains. Its great for retreats w/ front and rear yards, a firepit, a hottub, a grill and a stargazing deck.

All references to its presence have been removed form the listing itself, but we cannot delete previous reviews which may have mentioned this feature. It is no longer there. • Like all major rivers, the French Broad river canyon also serves as a transportation artery. This includes the road that this home is located on and a rail line across the river. There are no crossings, so the trains do not blow their whistles or ring bells... you'll occasionally hear the romantic rumble of the trains over the sound of the river. This is a minor trade-off to being on the riverfront, but we believe you'll agree it's a worthy one.

Welcome to #MountainHomef15e. 58 acres of seclusion and peace. We are very happy to share it with you. We very much consider it a retreat and sanctuary for humans and wildlife. You will see many deer and an amazing variety of birds – including Owls, Eagles, Cardinals, Hummingbirds, Blue Jays, Finch, Woodpeckers and many others. We feed them. If you sit quietly and watch from the deck or the front door they often come from the hill above in the back. Sometimes when you come along the driveway you’ll see deer on either side or down the hill below the deck. They love dries sweet corn and are part of our family. There are wild turkeys who definitely gobble and males with magnificent plumage is immediately identifiable. The stars at night….WOW! We don’t allow hunting, shooting, golfing or activities that will frighten or otherwise disturb the wildlife or their home. We chose the name as Ken flew the F15 Strike Eagle at Mountain Home AFB, Idaho. #MountainHomef15e seems fitting as it is part of our story. We are fortunate to have found this property. The original owners Tom and Kay did an amazing job with the design elements, especially the home and pavilion location. The pavilion has a large gas fireplace and gas grill. Spacious and spectacular views. The whole design was to create the amazing 360 degree view, the center garden, grotto (with 7 person hot tub) and all of the stone work and pathways throughout and around the property. There are so many places to sit and enjoy the seclusion, wildlife and the views. There is an antique wood tobacco barn at the base of the property on Dry Pond Road and Bearcreek Road. In the “holler” below the pavilion on the property there is an artist loft with two-car garage that’s been finished. There is also an antique tobacco barn partially made of chestnut wood. Here is where at least one, possibly two barn owls live. There are two pathways down to the holler, just please be respectful of #OwlHome. The furniture, the cabinetry, the lighting, really everything seen and not was done to the ultimate standard. Our intention is to maintain their design and dream while still working to renovate and upgrade. For example, the Hot Tub! So nice to enjoy.
